Learning Disabilities Worldwide honors the profound legacy of Dr. Lynn S. Fuchs (1950-2025), whose groundbreaking contributions transformed education for students with specific learning disabilities. As a distinguished member of our Advisory Board, Dr. Fuchs dedicated her career to developing practical, evidence-based approaches that made a measurable difference in classrooms worldwide. Her pioneering work on curriculum-based measurement revolutionized how educators identify learning difficulties and monitor progress, while her research on mathematics disabilities led to innovative interventions addressing calculation skills, word problem solving, and fraction knowledge. Dr. Fuchs' development of peer-assisted learning strategies created effective ways to support diverse learning needs in inclusive classrooms, and her contributions to response-to-intervention models fundamentally changed how schools identify and support students with reading and math disabilities. Through her extensive research at Vanderbilt University, where she held the Dunn Family Endowed Chair, Dr. Fuchs published over 350 influential articles and received prestigious recognitions including the Palmer O. Johnson Award and the McGraw Prize in Education. Beyond her scholarly achievements, she was known for her warmth and unwavering commitment to improving educational outcomes for vulnerable students. Learning Disabilities Worldwide extends our deepest condolences to her husband Douglas, with whom she frequently collaborated, her son Matthew and family. Her exceptional research, mentorship of future scholars, and compassionate approach to addressing learning disabilities ensures that her influence will continue to benefit students and educators for generations to come.
Dr. Lynn Fuchs was a woman of great character and integrity. A serious and passionate educator and researcher. Her passion to see students succeed with learning disabilities and related disorders was admirable and inspiring. The world lost a big giant. She was respected and admired, a woman of great influence. Her work was impeccable and brought forth change in the field of education and research - very important for students with learning disabilities, who succeeded and continue to, because of her dedication to the teaching profession. She brought forth hope and courage to those who struggled with learning disabilities.
Dr. Lynn Fuchs was humble and never brought attention to herself. She lived life with great passion and love for humanity. Her legacy will never be forgotten, she accomplished so much. Her legacy will always remain and forever be remembered and followed. Forever in our hearts for those who knew and loved her.
To those who will come after, she will still be lighting the way by the countless writings she left our world. If ever a human being would be remembered for generations to come, Dr. Lynn Fuchs is that person. She inspired many and changed many lives for the better. She had remarkable talent and strength to achieve the impossible.
To Dr. Doug Fuchs, her son Matthew, and her beautiful grandchildren, we hold you in our thoughts and prayers, and remind you that who she was resides in you. Never forgotten, forever loved.

Dr Lynn Fuchs was an explemprary scholar and educator in the field of special education. She was an invaluable contributor to the LDW organization, and she will be missed by us and the global education community. My deepest condolences to her family.

What an amazing person and a remarkable life Dr. Lynn Fuchs has had in the field of specialized education. I feel so fortunate that she was part of the LDW foundation and that she touched so many individuals and families who live with the struggles of LD every day. There are no words for the legacy Lynn has left on the field of Learning Disabilities Research and Practice. Her shining personality will live on in our hearts with true appreciation. It is with heavy hearts that I write this memorial note for Dr. Lynn Fuchs. Lynn was not only a brilliant scholar and educator, but also a cherished friend and colleague to so many of us at LDW. Lynn gave so much to LDW over the years. She presented at our conferences, served faithfully on our LDCJ Editorial Board, and lent her wisdom and warmth to our Advisory Board—continuing her service to the community she cared about so deeply, right up until her final days. Her passion and integrity have helped shape LDW into what it is today. She will be dearly missed.
